Description: This silent news footage from the KCTV News Collection captures scenes of Ballinger, Texas in 1968, including the Runnels County Courthouse, Hutchins Street downtown, and Ballinger Memorial Hospital. On the courthouse lawn is a statue of Charles H. Noyes, the son of a local rancher who died in a ranching accident at 21. His father commissioned the statue by Pompeo Coppini as a tribute to his son. Coppini was an Italian sculptor that moved to Texas in 1901, who is also the creator of the Littlefield Fountain Memorial at the University of Texas, the bas-relief monument at Sam Houston’s grave in Huntsville, and the Terry’s Texas Rangers monument on the Texas State Capitol grounds.
