Looks at Andrew Jackson’s life prior to his election to the US presidency in 1828. Uses Alexis de Tocqueville’s book, ‘Democracy in America’ and a stage play to highlight aspects of Jackson’s life, such as his duel with Dickenson; his days in the militia; and his eventual election as president.
