Announcer introduction: "Molly Goldberg in her own particular way, has a conscience which is extraordinarily sensitive to injustice... and sometimes, she will worry about a problem long after other people have decided to let it go. Right now the problem is to secure justice for Grace and George who ran off with the money that the people of Lastenbury had contributed to the Delinquent Children's Fund. These people, acting as judge and jury have just heard the case of the two defendants... George faced them with courage and took the entire blame on his shoulders... but Grace defied them, called them names, and said she didn't care what happened to her. Now the two are in another room while Molly makes one last plea. Listen..."
Announcer close: "As these townspeople sit in Molly's house, they begin to realize what a great responsibility it is to sit in judgment on your neighbors."
A hallmark of the golden age of radio, The Goldbergs (1929-1946) was one of the earliest entertainment programs to authentically explore Jewish life in America. Learn more at cinema.ucla.edu.

Decker how can we reach affair to see you you're going to keep on oh if you're gonna make me shut up every time I open them up and I just go home and leave it all you decide what's to be done with those those two ordinary cheat see well they're just too ordinary cheap fees I guess we wouldn't be gathered to hear tonight trying to decide what to do with them do there's only one thing to do that's lepel all decide what to do with them and you you comfortable Newton you're a servant of the law mrs. their complete hi Jeff I'm talking too loud and you afraid those tubal here yes mrs. Decker you are talking too loud and mrs. Decker if you're criticizing me indeed I am comfortable Newton well know what do you want me to do go inside and put handcuffs on why not they capitalized on this war we have sons in the army there isn't a family in town that doesn't have a boy in camp or overseas I wouldn't care so much if they were just ordinary crooks that were here and got away with some money but it's how they did it it's what their game was going from Camp to camp getting acquainted with soldiers learning all about who the boy wasn't where he came from and when the boy was shipped off to some battlefront these two two puppies would descend on his family and play on the sympathies of the parents and that girl pretending to be your son's wife mrs. Goldberg her I read the other day for a girl married seven soldiers to get several allotments where you can live pretty well on seven all up here you are talking about Grace and joy oh and I well well comfortable hey Decker's told us how she feeling of course I Kamala she's more guilty than he is but nevertheless they're both here to stand trial and disguises Goldberg my heart's just a soft injustice tendras yours is what's the law for at all i'm asking for our protection now these two people are useless it asleep but is I may I mean if I might I mean I'm not I'm not the wrong to make her i select hey it's a speech or a plea for grace and yours but maybe my feelings for them wouldn't be so easy to explain I I have a great curb all right weekly call it a weakness or whatever be sure but I don't know I like pee I love people good or bad wrong girl I time I'm evidently wrong because because without law and order this world would be a meaningless it would be I don't know what you're trying to say this is Decker mrs. Decker is right through this is that goes right I i wish it was easy for me to say what I feel but but if you'll only abide with me because I think there's one thing we all forgot the main thing in the most important thing I think we forgot it that there are three people involved not to this three going to be a baby and that's not just to norden anything then when in one of our families child is born me we think of all the wonderful things the child will have that we didn't have and we know that if there's any strength to nuts and the child will have it all am i right and then I mean that's the way I mean be ism and there's a single each person has to do with the Royals all right mrs. Goldberg that's the way we do our share in society the very Jewish airings piety mean it's not only the child the world of children that becomes the world of grown-ups the world each child happiness the pen Tana and the other children who are coming into the world but they were being and better become so regressive child I mean if this great can give the child a chance then we like Bruce Han receptor-like society then society must movie Verma give the child its chance and giving the child chance grace and daughter are given another chance then fill them then they must have it I mean I mean that the baby must have a chance I mean because what are we the rubber adavi after the gambler I'll be better if we just hoping that everything to come out good I mean the human beings with a responsibility to another life on our hands and if there is any chance than than I mean then our voices should speak how them without hesitation butter be hesitating and I've God for people it's not the world that they say that is bad to tell the people in this is bad that's the same over to the same and then that that's need that old people and and it'll always be the people until we take a pie responsibility what I mean Ruth that's what I mean hey I think you can all see what mrs. Goldberg is driving that I don't think any more talk is going to help you make up your mind so we all have a little quiet sit back do a spell of thinking I will too and just mark your decision on a piece of paper will have a secret ballot so nobody will hold a grudge against his neighbor just think about what mrs. Goldberg said it's the new life we're responsible for died like a pencil please yeah that's the law just pull the paper and puts in Newton's head what are we supposed to write just yes or no yeah but what's that gonna mean yes we mean having him arrested and brought to trial and no I mean what that will have to put them on probation till the baby is born when will that be Kristen as these townspeople sit in Molly's house they begin to realize what a great responsibility it is to sit in judgment on your neighbors you know a listener rights I love Molly goldberg she's so willing to help everybody yes and you know my young friend Dicky dozen tries to help folks too but sometimes his efforts just don't work out take yesterday Dicky said mr.
