asked to move because Mr BL wants my house so you see for what I did I was punished and rightly not wrongly and if I'm standing here now trying to speak to you it not to try to show you how is D but only to get back your respect and your friendship if I can well Goldberg go on Mrs Goldberg please go ahead friends I think I understand you and I only want you to understand me so so that we can be as we were some of you I I I I've known already for for years and I came from New York and even my best friend Bruce H condemned me but for one reason for one reason only not just because I tried to help two people and they went all with the money the money was not important you said it Mrs DEA Mrs vilia said it everybody said it wasn't important because money money can be found when you want to find it if you have the will and if you need it I was condemned not because I tried to help Grace and George Stevens but because I I took it on myself to help these people without taking my friends and my neighbors into my en conf that's just it that's right you know better than we are Mrs Goldberg I admit I was wrong Mrs Decker and I don't think I'm better or and I also don't think that I'm worse than my neighbors I should have taken you all into my confidence and asked you all to decide what should be done I didn't however evidently I didn't that's where I was wrong but but forget me for one minute forget me and think only of of the true people that I try to help Grace and George and and let me ask you only one question and then the meeting can be closed and you can do with or what with me what you will and where you will let me ask only one question let me ask you dear friends and neighbors what would you do now if say for instance I'm just saying for instance George came back what would you do with him would you help him I'd put him where he deserves to be he had his chance and he ran away and if he asked me I'd had put him away long before he had a chance to run if he had any sense he won't come back or he'll get coming to a minute Mrs Decker neighbors please please now I I've been sitting here and listening now I've got something to say I want to apologize to Mrs Goldberg apologize to Mrs Goldberg I supposed to be apologized deer I was the first to go to Mrs Goldberg and say that it was UN neighborly to help those two people without consulting the rest of us when we involved too but now I see what Mrs Goldberg feared I see it right here when she asked what we do if SA George came back I begin to see something it's getting clear to me now you take a couple of people who are suspicious and weak characters let's say bad characters and you want to help them all right you you have to decide what to do and it's a complicated not not a simple thing to do you know it's a right thing to do you know you could get every decent person in lenbury to agree to help but it might take time to convince everybody and someone want one single person might not be convinced well if Mrs Goldberg had gone around and asked all of us what Mrs Decker might have said no how do you know what I Mrs Decker and then those two people wouldn't have had their chance just the way she won't give George a chance now he had his Chance some men need more than one oh more than Mr Decker have we been harsh with Mrs Goldberg because we looked at what happened after it happened not before it did I see we were wrong and she was right and I think that three of us here ought to be right ashamed and ought to make up for it how about that Frozen locker and the pasture
