The Goldbergs: Episode 1476. Date: May 24, 1943. Cast: Gertrude Berg (Molly Goldberg); James R. Waters (Jake Goldberg); Roslyn Silber (Rosalie Goldberg); Alfred Ryder (Sammy Goldberg); Menasha Skulnik (Uncle David).
Announcer introduction: "Day by day a wasteland of misunderstanding, harshness, bitterness opens wider between Rosie and her parents... This is a strange and horrible thing for the Goldbergs... for the family has always been knit together by the deepest understanding and love... intimate... sensitive, continuous... But Rosie has taken a position which Jake and Molly simply can't fathom. Rosie has some money for college, and she refuses to give it up to help out her sister-in-law, Grace, Sammy's wife. Rosie dislikes Grace, suspects her, mistrusts her... whereas Jake and Molly have fallen head over heels in love with the girl. We know Rosie is right... but there is no way of proving it now... and so Rosie is just being stubborn and taking the consequences... meanwhile Jake and Molly are making every effort to raise the money Grace claims she needs... It's early morning now... Molly is up. Listen..."
Announcer close: "If there was anything Rosie could say or do that would further isolate her from her own family... this is it, but Rosie's is right and Jake and Molly are wrong... yet no one has any way of knowing yet just what's wrong with the girl whom Sammy married..."

had an antique to call our own even with a bag of candy then there's not money to a child candy is more than money what does a penny mean to a child I mean it means gumdrops lollipops ice cream come to Rosalie ever buy herself a peanut even without bringing some home never Jake that's why I can understand it Jake I can't see like denim you can't see because your mother why don't she like grace because she likes herself more well graceful have the money even though it takes the rest of my life to pay it back here maybe maybe this will hurt you Molly ball I did if it'll hurt me don't say I where you running Molly I don't David why did you have to go and save I I heard you you see you see how would you say your not going to them but it's all right if you change your medical David watch all right a person needs time to think things out you taught it I just told largely the right ways always these did you not be uncle David it's just want to say thank you rose and there is nothing to thank me for pub mama told me that that that has nothing to do with the money huh I'm not going to Randall but I'm not turning up with the money either grace isn't gonna get any of the money that you work so hard for but the road illusion she said you saved it for me he saved it for something good in something useful not to give her so she can help us there was nothing but a thief Rosie I'm not going to Randall because I don't want you to think that I put the college before anything else I'm not gonna go I couldn't go now I wouldn't go now but I'm not gonna let you and Mama take that money and throw it away on someone like grace even if she is Sammy's one day and I'm not gonna let you take uncle David's money either you're just blind you would number just blind you you won't see what grace is your role bewildered because you're thinking of Sammy away somewhere in danger and you're giving grace the benefit of your feelings well she didn't deserve them and she won't get them from me well if there were anything Rosie could say or do that would further isolate her from her own family this is it but Rosie is right and Jake and Molly are wrong yet no one has any way of knowing just what's wrong with the girl whom Sammy Mary you know all the time you spend with your friends and this program goes quickly doesn't it yeah sometimes a friendly visit makes you lose all track of time take what happened to unki does him he said I was visiting that pretty witty yesterday and I got so interesti telling her about does four dishes that before I knew it aya does all our supper dishes well does is a fascinating subject because besides doing everything in the wash does has everything for dishes to why this new kind of soap makes suds that stand up till the last dish is done cuts grease like 60 yet it's kinda two hands yes those does suds really stand up you don't have to keep adding soap and does cut stuff grease in less than half a minute yet it treats hands better than any other leading granulated wash day so try does yet it has everything for dishes and remember during wartime don't waste soap soap contains vitally needed war materials so measure does carefully into your dishpan make every bit of does you use do more be sure to listen to the next episode of the Goldbergs written for you by gertrude burr Rosie finds out in tuition isn't enough when it comes to solving wickedness this is clayton collier speaking for Procter & Gamble and saying do as the dozens do let does the new kind of soap do everything in your wash
