Description:
The Goldbergs: Episode 1461. Date: May 3, 1943. Cast: Gertrude Berg (Molly Goldberg); James R. Waters (Jake Goldberg); Roslyn Silber (Rosalie Goldberg); Alfred Ryder (Sammy Goldberg); Menasha Skulnik (Uncle David).
Announcer introduction: "Molly is infatuated with her new daughter-in-law... who has come to Lastenbury on a visit. But Molly's blind love is based on something else besides Grace's good qualities... It's the fact that Sammy is on his way to parts unknown... and that Grace is in a way a substitute for the son who is going into so much danger. The Goldbergs learned about Sammy's marriage through Grace... for Sammy had to leave before he could write... and all would be well... except... that there is a new farmhand on a neighboring farm named George whom Rosie suspects to be connected in some peculiar way with Grace. We know... that Grace and George do know each other, and that they have some plan in mind... perhaps even a dangerous one to the Goldbergs... but what it is exactly we don't know. However now, in Molly's bedroom a family powwow is going on... Listen..."
Announcer close: "And Rosie is more correct than she thinks... Whoever Grace was calling we can be sure that what she told Molly wasn't true... for Grace is hiding a great deal from the Goldbergs... things that Molly would be horrified to know..."
A hallmark of the golden age of radio, The Goldbergs (1929-1946) was one of the earliest entertainment programs to authentically explore Jewish life in America. Learn more at cinema.ucla.edu.

to appreciate but how lucky we are how I don't don't what nothing but but what you don't like great I don't know yet really you don't know don't know your brother's wife you don't know no I don't know what do you have to know that you don't know I know that she's pretty beautiful all right I know that she's my intellectual intelligent not intellectual more intelligent is not intellectual no it isn't mine it intellectual is not intelligent no mod has a difference between them brother difference there is a difference my intelligence is this take it from intellectual or right ma please so where are you going where am I going I i want the dictionary that's what I want now you're going to webster now i'm going to rips it yes not leavin hyperbolic Phi stated intellectual is nothing to lecture then look under 10 on a minute after all maybe I did invent a high school and maybe I didn't venture junior but but intellectual I want to know the difference how did all this start huh oh mama asked me if but hey there is a difference between the two words a intelligent means a native ability of a person who couldn't read or or write could be more intelligent than a college professor but he couldn't be more intellectual because well intellectual means the ability to handle ideas and have them abstract ideas so how old is serviced out loud mama asked me if I like grace and i said i don't know a well enough to know what do you have to know all these war marriages of rush marriages pop what we know a batter what do you have to know about a person i think a lot has she a mother haha she a father a sister or a brother what has love got to do with liking and not liking nothing homie i'm just expressing my opinion maybe uh Rosalie you are just a little jealous well why should I I wondered if comes after hmm you didn't ask a so who she was talking do know I didn't ask wanna bet that's but they're here yeah all right here all right let me get I've on the difference between intellectual and I want to be wit intelligence intellectual all teams to the possession of idea idea yes intelligent refers to the inherited ability again can again slow intelligent refers to the inherited ability inherit ability to adapt oneself to novel situations situations and it inherited but how intelligent intelligent and harris though the inherited ability to adapt oneself to novel sit we dr. su vs. about the difference the differences between black and white and I still say there's no difference to mine diagnosis of my daughter-in-laws intelligence she's intelligent that she's intellectual and she's brilliant huh was that nothing you can add very smart and very clever and very but nothing and Rosie is more correct than she thinks whoever grace was calling we can be sure that what she told Molly wasn't true or grace is hiding a great deal from the Goldbergs things that Molly would be horrified to know you know only the other day I heard a woman say yes that's why I always listen to the Goldbergs because it's so true to life it's so real yes and that's how it is with a dozen family to now take Dicky he's a real boy you know I started teasing him yesterday about his passion for that cute little girl nextdoor Nikki said oh her the big freckle face gosh she's so dumb she doesn't even know what does is well Dickie you certainly ought to tell her tell her does is a new kind of soap for everything in the wash you know does get sheets and towels dazzling white and as for work shirts why does get some clean easy yet even those colored rayons you wash stay bright and pretty when you're dozen honestly compared to other leading granulated wash day soaps does gives longer life two colors plus unsurpassed whiteness and real cleaning power for the dirtiest clothes as Dickey would say does is really snazzy sure is even in the toughest wash does does everything be sure to listen to the next episode of the Goldbergs the daughter-in-law shows that she is not only intelligent and clever and intellectual and all the rest she's also no mean actress this is clayton collier speaking for Procter & Gamble and saying do as the dozens do let does the new kind of soap do everything in your wash
