Description: Demonstrates many of the scientific techniques used aboard Lamont Geological Observatory research vessels to gather geophysical data on the ocean floor and shows how the finds furnish significant clues to the origin, structure, and history of the earth. Pictures a precision depth recorder mapping the ocean floor, an ocean bottom camera, a deep sea dredge gathering rock samples for radioactive dating, the equipment used to measure produces an "X-ray" view of the layers of sediment at the ocean bottom. Produced under an NSF grant.
