Description: Describes how, on the last day before the old contract expires, the bargaining finds the union officials making concessions to avoid a break in the negotiations, even to the point of asking the union members to approve a deadline extension. Depicts the mediator bringing both sides together, so they return to their respective members for consultation to vote on whether to continue the talks. Shows how the decision reached is to extend on a day-to-day basis relieving some of the pressure due to the crisis.
