Description: This animated version of a century-old folksong employs adventure, humor and tragedy to illustrate a folk belief, namely, that if you bring harm to a cat, the animal will relentlessly revenge himself upon you. Old Mr. Johnson wants nothing more but to be left in peace to place his tuba. Adopting a small yellow cat that he finds abandoned on his doorstep, Mr. Johnson quickly discovers that his house is too small for the both of them. Mr. Johnson executes a series of desperate schemes to rid himself of the feline, including losing him in the woods, in water, via hot air balloon, and on a railroad track. The wily cat foils each attempt on his lives and returns to wreak ever-increasing havoc - a pursuit that is continued beyond the grave.
