The Case of the legless veteran, James Kutcher

A portrait of the struggles of James Kutcher, a man who lost his legs on an Italian battlefield in World War II and then lost a clerk's job in the Veterans' Administration in 1948 because of his membership in the Socialist Workers Party. Kutcher's 10-year fight against the Federal Employee Loyalty Program is narrated through interviews and rare archival footage that places his trials within a social and political context: the post-war decade, the Cold War and the McCarthy era.
