Description: Identifies current research in the control and manipulation of spermatozoa, egg, and embryo in animals and humans, exploring the many controversies, as well as the moral and ethical questions, surrounding this research. Explains and shows, in detail, the processes of removal, fertilization, and freezing at various reproductive stages to produce higher quality cattle, horses, and other livestock. Examines the use of surrogate mothers and sperm banks for artificial insemination to assist infertile couples to have families. Discusses research and experimentation with egg/embryo manipulations (i.e. test tube babies) and the freezing of human embryos for future implantation. Presents areas for future research.
