Documents the efforts of Gerald Durrell to establish a nonprofit sanctuary for the preservation of animals on the English Channel Island of Jersey. Here he maintains a unique "zoo" where endangered species are protected from the encroachment of man and eventual extinction. He initiates a three-fold approach: 1) the rescue and collection of endangered species; 2) development of breeding colonies; 3) release of species and/or offspring into natural habitats. The Wildlife Preservation Trust also gathers and freely distributes information and scientific data.
