John Boiled, is an Englishman, who ran away to China when he was twenty and has since become a scholar of Taoism and an interpreter of Taoism to the West. He has written many books on the beliefs of the Far East.

He talks of the history of Taoism beginning with Lao-Tse. Yin-yang symbol is explained and illustrated by poetic film images. Void and substance shown through architecture. Nature in relation to man is explained by painting.
