Description: Shows various effects of bulbar poliomyelitis on the functioning of the vocal cords and the accumulation of secretions in the upper pharyngeal region. Shows the vocal cords and upper pharyngeal region of four patients who have been afflicted with bulbar poliomyeitis. Pictures various degrees of paralysis of the muscles controlling the vocal cords and subsequent accumulation of secretions in the upper pharyngeal area. The last patient shown has a tracheotomy.
