Description: Episode number 22 of Series “The Australian eye IV”. A study of Sidney Nolan’s “Stringybark Creek”, a central part of the first Kelly Gang series. Nolan talks of his development as an abstract artist, his attitude to such conventions as perspective and gives his own definition of ‘what art is’. Discusses his fascination with the Australian landscape and with the outlaw Ned Kelly. Nolan’s earlier Melbourne paintings and others from the first Kelly Gang series are also shown.
