He discusses Spender’s activity during the Spanish Civil War and World War II and says his poems of war and love have a panoramic sweep. Spender then reads “Two Armies,” “The Guns,” “The Window,” “Ice,” “The Little Coat,” “Song,” and “Elegy for Margaret.”
