The unaided eye sees Spirogyra as green masses of slimy intertwining filaments. The microscope reveals detailed cellular structures, including nucleus, cytoplasm, chloroplasts and pyrenoids - the length and diameter of a spirogyra cell, and in a culture we observe growth and sexual reproduction.
