Description: In 1968, the Royal Guardsmen released a new single entitled “Snoopy for President.” While the song stalled at no. 85 on the music charts, it nevertheless inspired some voters to adopt the cartoon beagle as a write-in candidate. Broadcast on August 21, 1968, this news segment for Houston’s KPRC-TV shows women decorating a bookkeeping office with campaign signs and stickers. Some portions are silent and would have been voiced over by the anchorperson during a live broadcast.
