Description: Uses an adaptation by John Chandler of a narrative poem by June Jordan to present the historical background of slavery and its relation to today and the life-style of Black Americans. Depicts how Americans were bought and sold, the everyday horror of life as a slave, and the heroism of the runaways and rebels. Graphics of the days of slavery are intercut with live-action scenes of a modern inner-city youth who faces poverty, drugs and racism.
