Presents the story of Mauro, a 12-year-old schoolboy who works as a part-time shoe shiner in downtown Sao Paulo. Contrasts the spectacular business district where Mauro works, the result of the campaign for industrial growth, with the poverty of his home in the favela or squatter settlement.
