Description: Jane Seymour becomes the object of Henry's attentions during a royal outing at her father's country estate. The quiet, devout Jane is reluctant to comply with Henry's desire for her to return to court, not wishing to contend with his amorous attentions while he is still married to Anne Boleyn. Henry demands oaths of allegiance from everyone coming to court including Jane. She cannot totally convince herself that Henry's religious and political maneuvers are beyond reproach. They are wed after Anne's death. Jane succeeds in having Catherine's daughter, Mary, returned to court. Jane's story is told in flashbacks as she lay dying while her firstborn, Edward, is being Christened. Her thoughts reveal that she is not at peace with herself, believing that she is responsible for Anne's execution.
