Hemisphere would they plunge the world into war the answer they wouldn't the resolution of the president to directly confront the threat of international blackmail to firmly meet it with ready United States power was answered by communist agreement to withdraw offensive weapons from the island of Cuba air reconnaissance confirmed the dismantling of installations the withdrawal of missiles and planes from Cuban soil this classic display of sea power had accomplished its purpose the quarantine was lifted the US Navy as a part of our defense team had met and matched the demands of Crisis turning now from the threat of communist aggression to continuing worldwide responsibil ities but ready in time of Peace ready to keep the peace standing alert guard against Global threat this free
