A basic introduction to the materials and techniques used in sculpting. Shows sculptors George Grand and Rik Poot at work on various materials such as clay, stone, wood and plaster. Compares the sculpted forms of ancient civilization and the emerging shapes of today, with Rodin as a kind of link between the two. Uses time-lapse photography of clay forms to demonstrate the transition from realism to cubism.
