Description: An historical survey of the year 1922; aftermath of World War I; payment of reparations by Germany; German inflation and the rise of a new leader from Munich; Black Shirts marched on Rome; Irish Free State came into existence independent of the British Crown; de Valera and the Civil War in Dublin; Smyrna destroyed in the war between Greece and Turkey; President Harding’s appeal for a return to “normalcy”; British politicians of the day were David Lloyd George, Ramsay MacDonald, Bonar Law and Winston Churchill; the popular sportsmen were Jack Hobbs and Jack Dempsey; the “ladies” took up cricket; Princess Mary was married in Westminster Abbey; the Atlantic crossing was made from east to west; radio broadcasting began from 2LO Marconi House; night-life boomed; theatres billed Stanley Lupino, Gertrude Lawrence, Tom Walls, and cinemas introduced a new star: “Felix the Cat”.
