Complete Record: Science Fiction Against the Margins Oct. 4–Dec. 14, 2024 Billy Wilder Theater at the Hammer Museum Spanning 21 countries and nearly 40 features, shorts and television productions, Science Fiction Against the Margins ​​showcases filmmakers in the “margins” of mainstream cinema who have challenged and subverted the sci-fi genre. Thinking outside of Hollywood’s ubiquitous sci-fi story structure that reinforces the status quo, these artists and storytellers present alternative representations of race and ethnicity, gender politics and cultural identity, and use speculative fiction to expose inequality.
