Several possible causes of schizophrenia are discussed. Among the different avenues of research described are tests to communicate with schizophrenics; treatment by drugs, shock treatment, and psychological treatment; the biochemical and neurophysiological aspects of the disease; and the question of whether the distorted perceptions of a schizophrenic are the result of, or the cause of, the disease.
