Arithmetic is where numbers fly like pigeons in and out of your head. Arithmetic is numbers you squeeze from your head to your hand to your pencil to your paper till you get the answer. American poet Carl Sandburg narrates this animated version of his poem accompanied by the folk rhythms of mandolin and accordion. The main setting is a wooden country schoolhouse where children learn about numbers and ponder their meaning.
