Description: This week, Science Reporter John Fitch visits the Corning Glass Works in Corning, New York, to talk with scientists about some new developments in glass technology. In this program viewers are given a tour of Corning’s handsome Glass Center, where 3,500 years of history and art of glass is on permanent display; they also see the Steuben factory (Corning is the manufacture of Steuben crystal) where craftsmen still practice the ancient art of glass blowing; and they learn how and why glass has become so important in the world of engineering and technology today.
