Description: Follows the movements of the Mikkel Haette family over a 12-month period to present a record of a reindeer herding Sami family (also known as Lapps) living the ancient nomadic lifestyle in 20th century Europe. Shows their environmental adaptation to sub-arctic conditions as they annually travel the 350km from Finland Plain, Norway, up to the Arctic coast and back again. Observes the mix of old traditions, rooted in a culture which goes back 6,000 years, with the new technology and its products such as plastic buckets, radios, and snow mobiles., Follows and records the travels of a Lapp family for a twelve-month period as they accompany their herd of reindeer from the Finmark Plain of Norway to the Arctic coast and back again. Studies the culture of a modern nomadic people.
