Description: Interviews Dr. Robert Moore from Scotland's University of Aberdeen, as he explains a portion of his book entitled Pitmen, Preachers and Politics , which discusses the effects of Methodism on an English mining town. Records the church's unfavorable acceptance of the struggle between employer and employee which developed as labor unions became a force in the mining town. Concludes that the beliefs of the church were so institutionalized that the people found it difficult to cope with and act decisively in the new political conditions.
