[Music] the story you're about to hear began in 65 a dormant dream did reappear st. Louis came alive this is st. Louis to do with the bed this st. Louis the Gateway to the where the cry went out to build a new the people said let go or Renaissance is overdue st. Louis has to grow [Music] [Music] the architects began to draw their dreams of things to be laid Luis what with mounting offered you identity [Music] [Applause] this is the story of a city which has always been a pleasant place in which to live work and play a city now filled with excitement this is the story of a new st. Louis rising from the outgrown splendor of a great past one day in 1955 her people said let's rebuild the city we need new apartment downtown we ought to have a planetarium around how about an arch high above the ground and we've gotta have a stadium sports compound where the cheers resound an archway started to climb 600 feet to the sky with the memories of time before by [Music] [Music] [Music] the mighty Mississippi with powerful dignity continues to flow as she has for centuries bearing her energy and vitality as the lifeblood of a busy city st. Louis began and grew on her banks a restless child reaching out for all the riches of the heartland the river gave st. Louis her reason for existence and to her people she is like a magnet calling them back from their wandering back to the heart of the city under the shadow of the Gateway Arch [Music] Brett what a diva do do motels are on the theme hey the riddle the old downtown uptown in between lady will the old fresh West you lose scene tweed lady riddle do [Music] there is brand new office space hey dear in the old buildings tall with style and breaks a tear it'll be old press West few new dean tweets space race hey dear Italy own new apartments do arise hey dear it'll do freaking awkward to the skies hey dear Italy old fresh what few new see Queens face big prize guys hey dear Italy [Music] [Music] st. Louis is a busy place it's got lots of industry it's got lots of factories it's got facilities to bring here or thank you there is what do you mean [Music] Harry is that all [Music] what else does st. Louis [Music] in the street [Music] is there more [Music] [Music] you still haven't said anything about our pharmaceutical labs we make about the biggest variety of health remedies anywhere in the country and we turn them out by the millions and there's another important st. Louis industry which hasn't been mentioned chemicals and chemical research on plastics to petroleum to atomic energy and while we're at it what about these electric plants talk about diversity everything from motors to avionics to brake fluid [Music] I just wonder if you realize that st. Louis is a nationally recognized center for publishing and critics I knew it bet for all my golden books come [Music] the first kindergarten in the United States was founded in st. Louis but here today are taking place many paid setting trends which are being watched by educators throughout the nation the public schools over 600 of them ranked second to none in modern teaching methods and equipment specialized schools for the handicapped bring not only children from all parts of the country but teachers under training from all parts of the world the many private schools church supporters and secular for boarding and four-day pupils offer a wide selection for children of every background [Music] I graduated from Washington University and I think it's the best place in the country to go for engineering architecture art or anything else I went to st. Louis University and you'll have to look long and hard to equal their schools of dentistry and psychiatry [Music] nowhere in the nation will you find a more outstanding group of hospitals engaged in medical research technology and services [Music] within the wall from day to day the children lie and way for those who bring the answer to their destiny [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] we have one of the best views in the country children people all over the world have heard about our Jim Show I like the elephants [Music] [Applause] [Music] I love the Tigers [Music] our art museum stands on a hill a wonder to behold with painting sculpture artifacts and treasures in silver and gold the jewel box with Lily whose reflects the daylight gold throughout the year the flowers through their wondrous policy show across the park the building stands his origin story from Linda to the Indian sister for all to see our planet teri you can set the stars of on a stage their constellations flash time a second stage inside our museum of science and natural history the wonders of the universe displayed for all to see the only one you'll find stands in the gardens left my god a legacy for man by [Music] the Muni offer unknown to all can cast a musical spell from Brigadoon to Kiss Me Kate fair lady to carousel while out in small community the neighbors gather and thrill to local productions that aren't too pleased presented on the side of her [Music] [Music] st. Louis is one of the sports centers of the nation baseball tennis basketball soccer hockey football we've got em all [Applause] [Music] there really are a lot of nice places to live yes there are when we moved here we found so many nice places it really was hard to make a choice but then it was so easy to make new friends it didn't take you long did it no because right away on that so many wonderful people working at the flea market and we really made a lot of money with Historical Society [Music] I love the garden Mart on me too this year was gorgeous the girls from Shaw's garden really outdid themselves and I bought some of the cutest things for my garden and lovely plants [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] Thank You enhancer my dear God has many goals [Music] with [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music]
