Description: This film reel contains footage of the Hotel del Coronado and surrounding area c.1930s. The footage is assumed to be promotional material for the hotel.  Footage contains clips of the exterior of the Hotel Del, including the tennis courts, pool, turret, and courtyard; interior clips including the Crown Room and the Circus Room; clips of surrounding area include footage of the original Coronado Golf Course, Tent City, the Rainbow Fleet, and a seaplane and Navy ship. The film reel also includes title and intertitle cards that list local tourist destinations in the greater San Diego area. The Hotel del Coronado is a historic beachfront hotel in the city of Coronado, California built in 1888. When it opened, it was the largest resort hotel in the world. It has hosted presidents, royalty, and celebrities and has been recognized a luxury destination through the years. The building of the hotel was directly tied to the development of the island of Coronado, which incorporated into a city separate from San Diego in 1890.
