Reconstruction: A Changing Nation,1865 - 1880; Depicts major victories and defeats for the American forces during the Revolutionary War., Analyzes the period of reconstruction (1865-1880) following the Civil War. Depicts happenings in the South as well as the growth of northern industries. Discusses the Black Codes, disputes between Congress and President Andrew Johnson over treatment of the South, the development of sharecropping, the influx of "carpetbaggers" and "scalawags," and occupation of the South by the Union Army. Indicates that some reasons for the growth of the North as an industrial region were the increased use of steel, the development of unionization, and the railroads.
