Description: After a generation of struggle, women have attained a strong presence in today's art world, as evidenced by a 1990's bumper crop of exhibitions devoted to their work. This feminist revolution has irrevocably changed the language of artmaking, admitting craft, decoration, process, and performance into the privileged company of painting and sculpture. Most significantly, the female body itself has been reclaimed. Once an aesthetic object interred on the male artist's canvas, it has now become the vital and often disturbing subject of exploration and self-revelation. Spans three generations of artists, from Louise Bourgeois to Janine Antoni, to give an overview of feminist art from 1960s to the present.
