Describes a two-year study carried out by the U S Atomic Energy Commission's Oak Ridge National Laboratory on the feasibility of permanent disposal of high level radioactive wastes in vacated salt mines, and key steps to such disposal at an abandoned salt mine in Kansas. Includes scenes of radioactive material being lowered into the 1,000-foot-deep mine for burial and of the many necessary operations associated with the undertaking.
