Description: Illustrates how the problem-solving process and the development of intelligent behavior are analyzed in a child study lab. Shows how children of different ages and temperaments attack the problem of obtaining a desired object which is seen through but obstructed by a glass plate. Points out that perception, motivation, and motor ability enter into the situation and must be evaluated before performance ability can be rated. Shows how children of different ages learn the principle by using rakes to obtain food out of reach outside of the cage in which they are placed.
