Principles of Movement in String Playing

Studies movement of the body in relation to playing the violin, viola, cello, and bass. Uses children from the Illinois String Research Project to demonstrate the importance of balance, leverage, and free movement in producing even tones. Explains through the use of rods attached to the upper arm, the lever-like movement which ensures smoother tone and facilitates repetitious movements.
