Discusses the 1969 Coal Health and Safety Act and examines the research the United States Bureau of Mines in undertaking to try to control coal pneumoconiosis. Points out that this disease is the "killer of coal miners" and shows how tiny particles of coal collect in miners' lungs to prevent proper breathing. Depicts how dust samples are checked inside low coal mines and demonstrates how, through the use of advanced engineering techniques and proper safety equipment, the coal dust concentration will meet 1972 standards of 2 mg.
