Description: This government film, produced for the U.S. Navy by Dallas-based Bill Stokes Associates, explores the Navy’s use of nuclear power. Among others, the film profiles Navy projects such as the construction of McMurdo Station in Antarctica that was used to monitor the use and reliability of nuclear power in remote locations. The film also examines Project Tektite, which stationed men in underwater stations powered by nuclear energy to study man’s ability to live and work underwater for prolonged periods of time; in this case, the men remained underwater for 58 days. “Unquestionably, nuclear power is the power of the future - on the land, in the seas, and in outer space.”
