Dramatizes the problems of "hidden Americans, " the 16 million rural poor who have been bypassed in this nation's drive toward affluence. People who live in mountain hollows at the end of rutted dirt roads, and in bypassed communities describe their problems, privations, and hopes. Then shows what many rural communities are doing, with government help, to provide education, job-training industrial development, and self-help projects.
