Description: The activities of the Melbourne and Metropolitan Board of Works have been extended since the introduction of legislation authorising penalties for polluters. Shows checks on atmospheric and noise pollution; monitoring of rivers, drains and Port Phillip Bay for water pollution; and plans to rectify Melbourne’s inadequate sewerage system. Looks at progress towards the restoration of the Yarra.
