Heat. Heat. Most of us are familiar with football, but let's see how much fun it is to play football at school. >> The idea of the game is the same. But in school, you play touch football with nine or fewer players on a team. >> Touch football helps you develop passing, catching, running, and kicking skills. In touch football, there is very little body contact. >> The tag is made below the waist. >> Grab him. >> One, two, three. Let's start with the center. >> When you are the center, you start the play by passing the ball between your legs. If you are right-handed, your right hand passes the ball. Your left hand guides the ball through your legs. Weight is on your feet. Don't lean on the ball. Look at the receiver and carefully aim the pass. >> With practice, you can learn the skill of throwing passes. Here's the grip. Spread your fingers around the ball. Last two fingers on the lacing for control and thumb around the end of the ball. Keep your eyes on the receiver. Shift your weight to the back foot and set the ball for the pass. Shift your weight to the front foot and put your body into the throw. Always follow through. Receiving the football is another skill that takes practice. >> Always keep your eyes on the ball. Relax your fingers as you catch. Quickly bring the ball to your side and under control before running. When running, grip the front part of the ball with your fingers and secure it with your arm. Holding the ball securely against your body will prevent fumbling or having the ball knocked from your hand. The defensive team takes positions to stop a passing play. This third down pass is incomplete, so the offensive team will punt or kick on the fourth down. The defensive team must stay behind the line of scrimmage until the ball is kicked. If you punt with your right foot, put your left hand toward the front of the ball. Right hand near the back, holding the ball level with the laces up. Kick with the instep of your foot and follow through. The football tea is sometimes used when place kicking. Kick below the middle of the ball. To place kick without a kicking tee, one player holds the ball with his forefinger. Kick below the center of the ball. Look at the punt again during a game. It takes practice to develop your passing, receiving, running, and kicking skills. Drills will help you play the game. In this passing drill, everyone has a chance to center, pass, receive, and lateral the ball. After each pass and lateral, rotate positions. For fun, there's nothing like a race. And in this relay, many important football skills are practiced. The long pass, receiving, centering. The short pass and running with the ball. Here's another race. It's called the run, turn, and pass relay. >> Drills are fun and give you the chance to enjoy yourself and improve your skills. Here's the punt practice drill that includes running and tagging the runner. After each play, everyone rotates. Ready set. >> From the pass from center to the long run, knowing football skills will make the game more fun. Passing, receiving, and running with the football are some of the skills you'll need to play the game. Holding the ball securely is important to remember. Let's take another look at the center. Head down looking at the receiver. Right hand passing, left hand guiding the ball. The pass. Feet apart. Set to throw. Fingers on the lacing for control. Put your strength and weight behind the ball and follow through. Teamwork and timing complete the pass for a punt. Think of each part. Hold the football. Release the football and kick with the instep. Practice your passing, receiving, running, and kicking skills. >> Knowing skills will make playing, and watching football more fun. Come here. Get it.
