Description: Focusing on Derry, Northern Ireland, this film examines the ways in which photographic images generated within a situation affect that situation. The work of a variety of photographers, including internationally-known photojournalists, freelance professionals and anonymous police photographers are analyzed and intercut with live-action footage of Derry to give the viewer a multi-dimensional picture of a city where violence and tragedy are routine. A group of young photographers who live in Derry cite the importance of the inhabitants recording the events which directly affect them. A woman presents her personal photo album which chronicles seven years of unrest in Northern Ireland alongside mementos of family life.
