Points out that life on earth depends upon some of the water's unusual properties- its slow rate of evaporation, its high surface tension, its power of solution, and the fact that it is heavier in the liquid than the solid form. discusses the structure of the water molecule and explains that the positive end of one water molecule can be attracted and attached o the negative end of another, forming a hydrogen bond. Since these bonds are continually being made and broken at room temperature, fluidity results. Adds that hydrogen bonds account for most of the water's unusual properties
