Illustrates the method of making the preparation for the separate study of the systemic and pulmonary circulations by replacing the two heart ventricles with two blood pumps. The mechanical, nervous and humoral processes regulating the state of the two circulations can then be investigated without the complication of changes in cardiac output. Illustrates a number of physiological responses.
