Peppy The Puppy (1952)

[Music] this is the story of a puppy his name is peepe the story is about the things Pepe did and the things that happened to him this is where the Story begins it's a kennel a place where dogs and puppies are kept and here is Peppe in his pen in the kennel the man who owns the kennel is Mr Martin and here are some other people in the story a little girl and her brother and their father the little girl's name is Kathy the boy's name is Jack the children and their father are coming to the kennel to buy a puppy first they stop to look at these two dogs pppe is watching them do you think Kathy and Jack will look at Peppe next no they're walking away where are they going here they are looking at a mother dog with her puppies What a fine family Mr Martin shows them one of the puppies what do you think of this one Jack and Kathy want to know can they have that one no says Mr Martin this puppy is too young he still needs his mother but what about Peppe aren't they going to look at him here they come listen to him bark yes yes that's the one Jack and Kathy want all right py says Mr Martin and here you are easy now put one hand under his chest the other hand under his hind legs that's the best way to hold a puppy and now pppe has two new friends doesn't he seem happy so father bought Peppe for the children but wait Mr Martin has something for Jack back it's a little book called our puppy let's say the words our puppy and that's how Jack and Kathy got Peppe for their very own what fun it will be to play with him at home now the children are bringing pppe to their own backyard see here they come they have a lot to learn about their puppy look at the short little tail he has and dark eyes and black nose he has long ears covered with curly hair do you know what his feet are called that's right pause yes we're really learning about Peppe and now pppe is going to look around and learn about his new home what's he doing now look he's sniffing the grass perhaps he doesn't know what it is but we know what grass is let's all say it grass see that's the way the word looks let's say it again grass now Peppe sees this it's a fence let's all say it fence here's something else in the yard flowers let's say it flowers look who's here careful Peppe no no let's not break the flowers there's Kathy little by little she will teach Peppe to stay out of the flowers that's all part of taking care of a puppy here's something Peppe can play with a rubber ball pick it up Peppe that's a boy but taking care of a puppy isn't all play now it's time to feed Peppe Jack put some puppy biscuits into the warm milk peppy knows what that is mm that's good Jack remembers the little book they got from Mr Martin it tells all about feeding a puppy there's the page about feeding let's say the word feeding this is feeding our puppy uh-oh Peppe is tipping over the bowl Jack thinks this bowl is too rounded they'll have to get one that won't tip yes Jack and Kathy and Peppe are learning to get along together here's the clean box that the children have fixed up for Peppe this is where he will sleep little by little they will teach him to sleep in his box there soon he'll be sleeping now very quietly let's say the word sleeping sleeping but the next day Pepe is wide awake and ready for adventure watch that step Peppe oops he's not hurt and off goes looking for Jack and Kathy he doesn't know the children are in school now he sees the fence yes everything looks the same but where are the children over there are the flowers mustn't go in there what will he do next a puppy has to scratch his ear once in a while and now to find the children look someone left the gate open and out he goes Peppe come back where are you going looks like pppe has walked into another yard Pepe's never seen a rag doll before will he be afraid of it what's he going to do he's going after it see he's not afraid of the rag doll at all why he's even chewing it what's that don't run away Peppe look it's only a boy with his lawnmower come back py is coming back look out for the sprinklers peppy look out he got wet he's not hurt he just doesn't know what happened poor Peppe and he still hasn't found Kathy and [Applause] Jack the boy turns off the water and comes to get Peppe there little fella you'll be all right isn't anyone looking after you oh there they are yes it's Kathy and Jack coming home from school peepe how did you get out of the yard oh it's good to know that Peppe is safe and sound and look Jack has a new bowl for Peppe a wide one that won't tip over and
