Description: Shows how Penn defined a form of government based on the fundamental ideas of tolerance, liberty, and human rights. Features a reenactment of the famous Penn/Mead trial of 1670, which demonstrates the principles on which Penn sought to base the new colony. Other segments recall the threats to freedom which the Commonwealth has faced in its history- the 'Walking Purchase,' the burning of Pennsylvania Hall, and the Kensington riots. The Penn/Mead trial was filmed on location at the Cambria County courthouse in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, with Bob Leonard portraying William Penn.
