One Rainy Day

Kids come in from the rain to school. They take off coats and boots. In classroom teacher reads book called “The Little Girl Who Was Glad it Rained”. Reenactment of book - girl (Peggy) in nice dress with umbrella and small purse, ties shoes, clouds above, she skips and dances down the sidewalk. Dried flowers, warning signs not to build fires, wooden house. Girl pretends to walk tightrope with umbrella. Wind blows at girl and n trees. Slow motion of girl dancing down sidewalk. Laundry out on clothesline. Open window with curtain blowing. Ice cream parlor. Man walks by gazing up at American flag and clouds runs to avoid rain. Lightning. Window closes. Woman runs out to take clothes off of line. Hopscotch. Man pulls up in car, rolls up window. Man runs covering head with newspaper as rain falls. Girl smiles as she looks up at ran. Ran gutters. Song plays “Rainy Day”. Teacher closes book. Boys stretch. Children gather at window to see rainbow. Very wholesome 50s movie for kids.
