[Music] the busy world's full of germs millions and millions of them they passed around every minute of the day some are dangerous some not at any rate people think nothing of it sometimes they catch something more often they don't because if they're healthy they're strong enough to fight them but if they ill it usually means they have a lot of germs on them and if they come to hospital all those germs come along too to end up in places like this of course you won't see them but just suppose you could suppose each germ was painted black now you'd see them all right so you have to stop these germs going from here to a patient who never owned them in the first place and isn't strong enough to fight them they've got two ways of traveling on your hands see those smudges and by air mail on any dust you kick up if you use a brush like this again we suppose they're black so as we can see them well how do you stop them for a start wash your hands really well if you've been handling anything to do with the patients and give them a good scrub too then if you're cleaning use a damp cloth so the dust will stick to it and won't fly about only finish off with a dry cloth but never use a dry cloth by itself and when you clean the floor use a machine with a special filter that keeps all the dust inside it brooms or brushes and such like which kick up the dust should never be seen in a ward now I'm sure that's what you've always meant to do but it's so easy to slip up and we'll see how five people do just this here's the first that's another patient dirty tile she's using and look at those germs you'll be more than sorry in a little while next here's a real messy job cleaning out a sink trap and meantime there's some trouble in the slle a tap she can't undo she needs help certainly my dear some people show them a pretty face and look what happens a few million more germs on the floor waiting to thumber lift down the ward and here it comes taxi so while this lot of germs ends up on these patients here has Romeo back again to mop up the rest talk about stable doors and bolting horses here's the scene set for our third mistake take a machine full of dust and a patient about to have his dressings changed the main thing here is to keep one well away from the other but when you've had a hard morning's work and you're tired you can easily get careless bags of dust mean bags of germs and with an open door to help they're off on a [Music] raid that Target could be anywhere it could even be here on these clean dressings and the dirty dressings or there after the incinerator mistake number four he is in a hurry another minute and he's wanted elsewhere the result all these germs make a return trip to the ward and to kept the lot Here's the final slip up get a septic finger and you can even start being generous with your own germs there's an odd million going free with each of these going free with every mouthful bargain offers repeatable anytime because five people have slipped up in as many seconds and the patients oh they're in a final Miss of course I know they wouldn't really look like this like we said you'd only see the germs if they were painted black no these patients might really look like this and all because for a split second five people didn't think [Music] remember that T it's the other patients and anyway the bed will need changing and you hold on a second get that mess out of the way first and what's your hurry just a few seconds and you'll have the passage to yourself if you have germs of your own keep away from the patience and their things till you're well and when you're shaking out the must shut the door working in a hospital isn't like working in a factory or an office or even your own home it's all right for you you're healthy and you can fight off any germs that are a but but the patients are sick which means that they've more than their fair share of germs anyway and they're weak which means means they'll collect anyone else's besides whoever Works in a hospital may move between the patients and the places where their germs end up a second's thought can stop you making a false move can help these patients keep their germs to themselves can decide if you're a barrier to those germs or a carrier of them a second thought may even decide if a patient leaves Hospital like this oh like [Music] this [Music]
