No Walls: A Prison Film

Presents comments of inmates and supervisors concerning activities available in and attitudes towards a penal work program in California. Relates the differing opinions of supervisory personnel--some feel that the work program teaches responsibility and respect while others consider it a means of subduing criminals. Indicates the conflicting attitudes of inmates as well--some regard the program as freedom from life behind bars while others judge it to be 20th century slavery. Illustrates how some individuals spend their time in prison learning culinary arts, exercising, reading, or taking care of certain types of pets.
